Without question, one of the most impressive model kits to ever emerge from our great hobby is the Star Trek Original Series U.S.S. Enterprise (1/350 scale) model kit produced by Round 2 Models/Polar Lights. So many modelers have this amazing kit and the Jerseyfest team would like to offer a very special class that will guide attendees through the process of building it. However, the majority of methods that will be covered in this class are applicable to any Starship Enterprise model kit.
In this class, attendees will learn advanced techniques, tips, products & secrets for building, painting & lighting the Enterprise Model Kit. Slideshow presentations and handout materials will be utilized to help the expert instructors present in depth guides and tutorials. The class is tailored for hobbyists of all experience levels. It’s not a “hands-on” class, however the instructors will sometimes have you handling the kit during the class.
This class will help you achieve the best results while making the model making process easier and more enjoyable. Even very experienced modelers will learn fantastic new methods and products to use and add to their existing bag of tricks.
Attendees who have the Round 2 Star Trek U.S.S. TOS Enterprise (1/350 Scale) Model Kit, Refit Enterprise kit, or any other Enterprise kit are encouraged to bring it to the class. Although not required, having the ability to handle and examine your kit parts while the instructors go over the building process would be beneficial.
The main class instructor, Mark Myers of “The Third Models”, is a veteran, professional model builder who is especially renowned for his work building, painting and lighting spaceship models. Collectors from all over the country commission Mark to build their models for them, which in many cases are Star Trek and other Science Fiction models. He has written model building articles for publications including Sci-Fi Fantasy & Modeler Magazine and AFM. His buildup of the Moebius Models Jupiter 2 model was used by Moebius for the kit’s box art. Mark is also known for his incredibly in depth knowledge of techniques, tools and products for building models with incredible realism, accuracy and beauty.
Instructor Ralph Tenaglia has a Bachelors degree in Engineering from Northeastern University as well as 35 years of design and manufacturing experience in the electronic sector. He is the owner of and mastermind behind TenaControls, which is one of the premier electronics companies in the hobby providing commercial grade electronic products for hobbyists and electronic enthusiasts.
